Amy's art possesses its unique vitality because in it she has attained the spontaneity of discipline and the discipline of spontaneity. Here her palette includes laser transfers of fabrics and her normal array of materials, only this time the collage elements are often manipulated as to size and color, and even painted again. Also seen are intricate pen and ink borders drawn by her mother, the children's book author and illustrator Jessie Spicer Zerner, which have been transferred and painted by Amy for their collaboration.The numinous quality of the light emanating from these collages is especially important.
