In the pieces displayed in this section, Amy has used the female form to personify various aspects of the ultimate source of the vibrant, nurturing energies of the life-force surrounding us. These women are not only idealized images of the feminine process which gives birth to and nurtures us all. Each is one of the infinite expressions of The Goddess, the One who gives birth to and nurtures the entire universe and everything in it. Amy's desire to better understand and correct the obvious inequities existing between the treatment of men and women--not just in the art world but in all facets of modern life--has led her to portray goddesses that differ significantly from those of the past and represent a mythology that is far more relevant for our time.
