Alchemy

Amy makes art as a bee makes honey or an alchemist makes gold. In trisection are a series of paper collages, one for each of the twelve different types of fire, air, water, and earth. As usual, Amy made an incredibly difficult technique seem easy, cutting, placing, and gluing thousands of separate pieces of paper, some incredibly small and delicate. Her work evolves from cutting and piecing together not only materials and imagery, but, symbolically, the things she understands with the things she does not understand. The events of the day are blended with the dreams of a lifetime.
